Only a few blocks from the Texas State Capitol, verdant and flourishing Waterloo Park welcomes entertainment seekers and families to a sanctuary in the middle of the busy city. The 11 acres take account of food trailers, walking trails, an abundance of natural plants, and an amphitheater that hosts concerts and various events.

Waterloo Park serves as the gateway to Waterloo Greenway in the northern portion, a 1.5-mile green area that will expand next to Waller Creek from 15th Street to Lady Bird Lake when it was done in 2006. Visit the park and see what they offer. Extra resources

Location

Waterloo Park is situated between 12th and 15th Streets along the Red River and features an array of exceptional spaces to submerge yourself in nature in the middle of downtown Austin. Spaces that reflect Central Texas and Austin landscapes, which include hill country patches with native plantings and oaks, wetland spaces that create places for relaxation and play,  wide yards for gathering as well as activities, and a 1 ½ mile of trails in the theme park.

What To Do at Waterloo Park Austin

The park was remade with attention to relaxation and sustainability. More than 500 live oaks, as well as native plants common in Texas, were transferred here to line the bent pathways. Three sustainable rain gardens help prevent flooding and secure Walter Creek. Link

Farmer Bridge

Farmer Bridge is an extraordinary place designed to bring back and preserve the natural beauty of Waller Creek. Healthy creekside systems do vital work. When they built over the wetlands, trees, and meadows that wandered along Waller Creek, they took away portions of nature’s toolkit, resulting in erosion as well as increased flooding.

Kitty King Powell Lawn

In the dream backyard, children can get energetic while allowing their imaginations to run wild, discovering the playground’s nature-inspired play features. Kids can enjoy the Log Jam climbing structure, sail down the stone slide hillside, play hide-and-seek in Mega Grass Maze, and scramble up and down the rolling hills.

Meredith Heritage Tree

This is located between Moody Amphitheater and Family Common; this facility offers a space where visitors can gather, picnic, and take pleasure in the generous shade under two soaring escarpment live oak trees than 200 years old.
